Lauren & Alex | Norman, Oklahoma Couple Shoot

Hello all! Meet Lauren, Alex, and baby Bennie!

These three made the trip down to Norman last week to come see me just for a Couple's Mini Session! I have to tell you, Lauren is seriously stunning! I knew of her only online before meeting her and then seeing her in person was a totally crazy experience since her beauty is so unreal! I feel so lucky to get to photograph such lovely people.

Thanks, you two, for letting me photograph you! It was so fun even though it was so short! :)

When I Visit Enid (My Hometown) | August 2015

I visited with my family over the weekend after finishing up a bridal trial run makeup session. All weekend it felt like "go, go go!" because I had to be every which way while I was in town. Even on Saturday when I had a photo session in OKC, I was back and forth driving...

The good news is, I sat down with my mom for a few and we talked about makeup. She had asked me if I could show her how to contour while she was doing her own makeup. Before I knew it, I was doing her full face and my mother, for the very first time, got to see her face in a different light.

Although I was unable to get a proper "before" shot, I managed to find a great photo of what my mom normally looks like on a day to day basis:

After we put on the finishing touches, lashes and all, my mother looked like an entirely different person. However, I couldn't have done it without her face. People often forget what makeup is. It's simply an enhancement of the beauty that's already there. Here are some photos of the final look:

I can't tell you how much of an impact this made on my mom. She wouldn't stop thanking me and she was bubbly and shining the rest of the night. Absolutely in awe of how she looked, I don't think I've ever seen her feel so confident and happy. Makeup is a rather controversial thing. To me, it is an art form that enhances the way we see ourselves, gives us pride. No one NEEDS makeup, but no one NEEDS fashion either. It's something we do for ourself because it makes us happy. I wish I could see Mom happy like this every day. Makeup can't fix that. But it is a step in the right direction for boosting confidence and seeing ourselves differently than what we are used to.

After makeup, I decided with the lighting and the limited amount of time I was going to have left to be with her, I knew we needed to document these moments. I brought my main camera with me on the trip just in case!

My mother loves to work in the yard and take care of her plants. It only fit to have her wear her husband's work hat and sit out in the front lawn with our dogs! :)

Something that means a lot to me is the documentation of our time as we are. Since I was teen, I have been trying to document myself by self-portraiture because I knew no one else was going to take those photos for me. No matter your age or condition, you and your family deserve to have photos taken of you as you are now. You will never be as young as you are in the very moment. Do it for yourself, your children, and your children's children. Take advantage of technology and the ability to encapsulate time.

Mom, these are for you. And I will give them to my future children as well.

Thanks, Albert (step dad) for taking some photos of Mom and me!

The Lee Family | Norman, Oklahoma Maternity Photographer

I am so excited to present one of my very first sessions after moving to Norman, Oklahoma! The Lee family is expecting their new baby in November and I was honored to be a part of their journey for the new bundle of joy. After realizing very quickly how creative and colorful Jamie is as a cosmotologist, I knew that I would take this session and really make it feel as modern and ethereal as this family is! You'll notice some of the tones in the following images to be somewhat fairytale like, which is exactly what I was hoping to achieve! You can make any session as ordinary or as special as you wish.

Jamie, your growing family is gorgeous and I can't wait to meet your baby girl!
