Hello New Friends! // Blog Challenge: Day 1

To my audience new and old, I wanted to welcome you to my blog. I've been sharing some recent sessions here and there, but I want you to get you up to speed on what to expect in the future for this little photo diary! At heart, I am an adventurer. I love seeing new places and finding more excuses to get out my camera and document life as I see it. Not only do I believe portraiture is important to savor our memories and our youth, but journalizing our lives in images has a special place in my heart as well. And that's not just for me, that's for all of us! Here on my blog, you can look forward to gaining an inside look at my life, my thoughts, and my journey. I encourage YOU, (yes you!), to document and showcase your life too! Whether it be through your handwritten journal or just taking snaps on your phone! There are so many ways to hold on to your story and moments of your life you love most.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Kayla Joy Smith and I am 22 years old.  I have been a native of Enid, Oklahoma since 1995. Since I could talk I've been singing and since I could hold a pencil I've been drawing, painting, and so much more. I'm an artist all-around. I've written stories, designed websites since I was 11,  learned how to play multiple instruments, acted in plays, went to singing and photography competitions all over the US, and attended a private art institute for my work as a student. Recently I picked up makeup artistry and now I offer it professionally with my photo sessions. Basically, I love every field of art I can get my hands into. And not just that, I put my heart into it. My passion for learning art I simply can't put into words. When you are able to pour your passion into something and be proud of it, that's your defining moment as an artist. Having a standard and living by it. Being able to express to other people this overwhelming of sense of exactly who you are and what you are able to create: that's what makes an artist. It's what I love and it's what I spend every single day of my life doing. I'll never stop creating!

I have been blogging for many years now but never really stuck to one place on the web where I was really inspired to keep a consistent blog. I now have the perfect place to hold all of my favorite things: words and photos! I began blogging to have a haven of my recent sessions and special moments in my life that were better told with photos than anything else.

I want my friends, family, and any person who doesn't even know me to be able to see this journal and know exactly who I am and what I offer to the world. I have felt my purpose and drive to do the things I do has always been to leave a mark on the planet through other people. I want to leave an everlasting memory of myself to anyone who wants me to help capture their story or just leave something of myself for my friends and relatives after I pass. This is the place where I want to hold all of my best days and maybe even trials, too, a home where I won't have to worry about them going anywhere.

I am happy to announce that I have been working on this very website for two-three weeks before I launched it recently! It was something that I had been contemplating for many months and then finally set it in motion with the right resources. It contains everything that I want; perfectly suited to show off just what I do! I am VERY pleased with how it turned out but since I'm a perfectionist, I've been tweaking it here and there EVERY day!

I want anyone who comes here to read my thoughts and sees my images to know this: Life is too short to let it pass us by. We have the ability to capture it and hold on to it for many generations. What better way to relive our memories over and over again than by documenting it! I was put on this earth to help others capture their souls as they are in this very moment. I would be more than happy to help you achieve this goal!

Thank you SO much for reading and being a part of my blog! I love interacting with all of you and am absolutely honored to be a part of your life!

So what are you waiting for?

Go start an adventure!

With love,
